Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;
This is a fabulous opportunity to become part of an exciting business that has successfully designed and built a range structures that are integral to our day to day lives – such as bridges, roads and sea wall defences – across the whole of the South West. Alongside your academic studies, projects you can expect to be involved in in the workplace include carrying out ground stabilisation works, demolishing and replacing bridges, constructing retaining walls, constructing flood defence systems, and realigning and widening highways.

The future of transport and infrastructure in the UK is exciting and changing, with autonomous vehicles, Smart Cities and the implementation of wider digital technologies all high on the government agenda. You will combine work-based on-the-job training and learning with further studies and must be willing to progress your career. You must be willing to undertake a block release schedule at the University of Exeter to study a Civil Engineering Site Management Degree Apprenticeship, with the aim to ultimately achieve Engineering Technician status and subsequently Incorporated Engineer status.
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;
This is a degree based apprenticeship which will be a combination of academic study at the University of Exeter and on the job learning at South West Highways
Formal qualifications required;
ABB at A-Level, or equivalent, to include Maths and a science or a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma with grades DDM or above in an engineering related subject with a further maths component. You may also have completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship as a Civil Engineering Technician
• 5 GCSEs grade A-C including Maths and English
