Our Shared Service functions work collaboratively to provide the essential business infrastructure that supports effective operations out on the network. Based in Horsham, West Sussex, our friendly teams ensure our divisions can access the resources they need to deliver the high standards their clients and the travelling public have come to expect from us.
Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;
Our Ringway Infrastructure Services business in Gloucester are looking for a degree apprentice. This opportunity exists within a Finance Department that has responsibility for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, and maintaining financial controls.

The apprenticeship will be a split between residential courses at Reed Business School, and on the job learning with a Mentor in the workplace. The apprenticeship will lead to the highly regarded ACCA qualification and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. Depending on prior experience and existing qualifications, the programme will be between four and five years long.
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;
The successful applicant will start off as an Accounts Assistant and become a Management Accountant in the long term. Over time, responsibilities will gradually build to include:

• Ensuring accuracy of the Profit and Loss statement
• Forecasting and reviewing budgets, identifying the causes of any variances
• Completing reports in accordance with set deadlines
• Preparing reports for monthly management meetings
• Implementing Group Management rules
• Providing accounting advice to senior management to facilitate decision making
• Maintaining the integrity of accounting systems and data
• Monitoring debtor days
Formal qualifications required;
3 'A' levels (or equivalent) grade A to C, one of which to be Maths or a related subject
Or for a school leaver, a minimum of 8 GCSEs from Grades A to C, one of which to be Maths (Maths to be B or above)
Skills required;
Applicants must be computer literate with strong MS Excel skills
Analytical thinking
Good numeracy skills
Attention to detail
Experience required;
None is necessary, but for those with no prior experience, the programme will be five years. For those with qualifications in related subjects, or a year or two in industry, the programme will be just under four years.
No prior knowledge is necessary, just willingness to learn and a good work ethic
