Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;
To monitor and provide Information to the public on traffic conditions across Hertfordshire. Operate traffic control systems and administer associated fault management processes.
 
The Control Room Operator will be responsible for: 
Monitoring and providing Information on traffic conditions across Hertfordshire.
The provision of real-time information to help stakeholders manage their operations and travel within Hertfordshire, including updating websites and social media from the Hertfordshire Transport Control Centre.
Effective liaison with the Emergency Services and Highways England in response to traffic disruptions.
Operation of Urban Traffic Management Systems in accordance with protocols and procedures including monitoring of road conditions and responding to incidents. 
Support and partner with the Client team in delivering their network management duties.
Co-ordinating and liaising with the priority response officers, who form the Operations Hub to ensure efficient management of the network.
Direct contribution and support to the development of procedures and protocols for traffic management and the integrated operation of the control centre.
Logging, assessing and prioritising customer enquiries.
Coordinating maintenance resources and fault management processes. Ensuring works are completed and recorded on time, to budget and quality.
Preparation, submission and maintenance of Road Space Booking Permits


The Control Room Operator will have: 
Excellent Communication Skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Experience of working within a Control Room environment (non-essential)
Familiar with the operation of UTMC and ITS Systems (training provided).
A good understanding of ITS, traffic signals and network management.
A proven track record demonstrated through training and experience.
